Delamination is when the outer fiberglass skin of an RV separates from the structure behind it. You see it as a wavy, bubbled, or soft area on a sidewall, roof, or slide face. It is one of the most common structural issues we repair.

The usual cause is water. Moisture gets behind the skin through a failed seal or seam, breaks down the adhesive bond, and the layers separate. Heat and age make it worse. By the time it is visible, the bond has usually been failing for a while.
Repair depends on how far it has spread. A small early area can sometimes be re-bonded, while a large or water-soaked section needs the skin and damaged substrate replaced and refinished to match. Either way, the source of the water has to be fixed first or it comes back.
If you see a soft or wavy spot, do not wait. Early delamination is a far smaller job than a sidewall rebuild. Bring it in for an inspection and a written estimate.
